Newark Police Officer Hit By Car, Suspect At-Large

A Newark police officer was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday, April 18.

The accident happened at 12:31 p.m. at a gas station on the 200 block of South Orange Avenue.

The driver reversed into the officer and subsequently fled the scene, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. 

The officer was transported to University Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Fragé said. Police are continuing to investigate, Fragé said.
